Title: Delete old kernel, and reconfigure.
Post by: Deach on December 21, 2009, 08:24:00 pm
Ok so I followed the directions in the "how to" on installing a new kernel.  I went and got the latest one 2.6.31.8 and it's working fine.  I selected it on reboot.  Now then I'd like to have the computer boot straight to that.  I tried
Quote
removepkg kernel-2.6.27.12
and got "No such package: /var/log/packages/kernel-2.6.27.12.  Can''t remove.  I am currently stumped.  Anyone help me out there?

Find your installed kernel(s) with
Code: [Select]
ls /var/log/packages/kernel-2.6*
Change your boot options with /sbin/vliloconf, or manually edit /etc/lilo.conf and running command "lilo" afterwards.

Ok thanks I'll give it a try.

Edit:  Ok thanks that got it.  I had to reinstall the kernel that I had updated to but, that got it.  Booting straight to the 2.6.31.8 kernel now.  I must say that on this older laptop this distro is a keeper so far.  Thanks to everyone that makes it possible.
