Post by: flip city on March 30, 2010, 05:42:24 pm
If all other things being equal, which would be a better value : a) a video card with 512 mb of DDR3 OR b) a video card with 1gb of DDR2 ?

Depends on the application and what you want the card to do.

It will be used for moderate games and watching DVD's. I'm leaning toward the 512mb DDR3.

That thing should fly.  ;D

I upgraded to a fanless (lower clock speeds, I guess) GeForce GT 240 1GB DDR3, and it does very well.

Did you have any issues with the driver ?

Now that you mention it, the vlnvidia package did not work. I downloaded the driver directly from nVidia. It was in beta stage at the time, but installed and ran without a hitch.
