Title: Fix Thunar slow startup on xfce >= 4.8
Post by: Joe1962 on February 08, 2012, 05:54:34 am
The culprit here is gvfs, since the latest Thunars switched to that, replacing thunar-vfs. Darned gvfs is checking the network and Thunar load is synchronous to gvfs, which means that it won't show up till gvfs finishes it's thing. There's some talk of fixing this in the Thunar discussions, but anyway, here's a fix in the meantime:

edit /usr/share/gvfs/mounts/network.mount as root
change AutoMount=true to false
save the file
log out of Xfce, then log back in to test...

NOTE: the darned delay will now show up the first time you click on Network in the Thunar sidebar, but I prefer it this way, it's up to you...  ;)

Great find.  I'll give it a try.
