Post by: frannkke on February 15, 2012, 07:50:58 pm
Hi
I have been using Vector linux 7 for a while now and it's great. However the cairo-dock has disappeared and I cannot restore it. Can anyone help please.
Thanks

Cairodock can be started as either opengl or non-opengl

Menu->System->Cairo-Dock (No opengl)
or
Menu->System->GLX-Dock (Cairo-Dock with openGL)

If either of those don't get it started try this in the terminal and post any errors that come up.
cairo-dock -c

Sometimes it gets in the way, but generally it's useful.  And it looks good.  I like the dock.

I agree, it's one of the most attractive features of VL in my opinion.

Thanks, I've created another user and moved the current user's data there and the dock works fine in that one and root. I think the trouble started when I tried to create a shortcut of File System in the dock rather than using the docks' built in File Browser one, so now I use that one instead of dragging and dropping a File Manager shortcut.
