Title: VL7 Final
Post by: StrayBit on February 22, 2012, 06:52:45 am
This is announced on the front page (vectorlinux.com).  The download link on the read more page did not work for me but, backing up to the main page, I had no issue with the download link.

Just got a (newer) computer and got VL6 installed dual booting with XP Pro.  Was going to start updateing it but will install 7 instead.

It looks awesome.  The team is to be commended.

VL7 was downloaded but k3b saves it is a wrong file size.  Thunar saves my file is 385.1MB.  Is that correct?

Sorry!  K3b was reporting fewer bytes than thunar.  Re-downloading now.

Finally got it down-loaded and installed.  The GUI installer is amazing!  And it even offers Grub!  So I tried it!  It toasted MBR.  Neither re-installing for LILO or with the the TUI installer helped.  Tomorrow, I'll re-install VL6 and see if it will get my MBR back.

Don't get me wrong.  I'm not complaining.  As I remember, I had some glitches when VL6 came out.  I'm looking forward to seeing what it looks like.

Oh! The CD on the laptop errored on the disk burned on a DVD/CDRW drive.  The good news is the installer finds the iso file on HD and offers to install from it.  Much easier than the old way.

Success!  VL6 cleared the issue of the MBR.  Am writing this from VL7.  The problem was most likely mine as I had kept trying to add another CDRW (it was CDROM!) and another hd, all of which kept changing how the drives were labeled.

I haven't tested the others yet, but I should be to boot to WinXpPro, VL6 and VL7.  The others were working before I reinstalled VL7 - again!  Now to get used to it
