Title: help to get new kernel used as default(solved)
Post by: danthemannewtolinux on March 09, 2012, 02:59:20 pm
hello there, i'm wondering if someone can help me setup my updated kernel as the default to load to instead of having to change it everytime i boot....i have vl7 and upgraded from 3.0.8 to 3.2.9 and the new kernel works fine. ( I followed the tuitorial on here to upgrade). I have lilo as my bootloader and i tried to use vasm to set it just to load 3.2.9 but it won't allow me to just choose that kernel and requires i have the linux(3.0.8) too. How can i set this so i can just boot to the new kernel without arrowing down at boot?

As root, edit /etc/lilo.conf, then run "lilo".

For instructions, command "man lilo.conf" or http://linux.die.net/man/5/lilo.conf
Look for the section about "default"
