What is the version numbers of the wireless cards?

You may have better luck with VL 7.0STD.

In a terminal, as user root, enter command "iwconfig".
Post the output here.

Well, this is going to have to wait. I think the HD just went bad. The laptop starts but nothing comes on the screen. I know the screen is good because the laptop sometimes works. Let me get this fix first and I will work on the wireless issue after I'm done with it.
