Howdy and Welcome. I have xmms 1.2.11-i586-1vl70 working OK in VL7 STD Gold. Installed it via gslapt long ago
as my main streaming radio player (hooked to 200 watt per channel amp) for the MC shop.

Just mentioning this since I saw you mention xmms in your xchat thread.

thank you all, glad to be of help.
as a side note rokytnji it wasnt xmms thats been an issue, its been a problem for me installing perl modules (example bundle::xmms which allows for remote control of xmms) and such via cpan. but this is probably for another thread

Welcome!

Perplexed that I tried to give you some xchat "advice."

Trust you considered the source and also that you will get xchat ironed out soon.

naw, i gave up on xchat. why struggle with old un-maintained software. hexchat works just fine and ive got irssi as well. the original reason i wanted xchat working (and ended up compiling irssi) was to get into the freenode channel. i had no idea about hexchat at that point.
im calling the issue sorted, lol
