Title: Flash player update?
Post by: Locator on September 11, 2014, 11:40:58 am
Where can I get the latest version of Flash player (or at least the Linux equivalent of it)? I know that the Windows version is up to 14 or higher. I am asking because some of the programs that I am trying to use on Facebook, for example don't work without it, and the most recent version of it that I have is 11.2.202.356.

Latest version of Flashplayer for Linux is 11.2.202.406

You can download a generic version directly from Adobe: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Choose the "other Linux" version and follow the directions in the archive.

Thanks, although I should have clarified what I meant by saying that some of the programs (games and such) won't work without version 14 or higher.

from adobe:

NOTE: Adobe Flash Player 11.2 will be the last version to target Linux as a supported platform. Adobe will continue to provide security backports to Flash Player 11.2 for Linux.

Not to mention, that policy has been in place for nearly 2 years.

Thanks, everyone, for you efforts in trying to help me out with this, so am I correct in assuming that as of right now there is nothing available for Linux that is compatible with Flash Player 14.0 or higher?

There is nothing for Linux itself, nor is there expected to be.

The player in Chrome browser relies on a Google-created program interface, not on Linux, and the vendor has decided to supply the closed-source player only for that API.
