When opening Marble virtual globe I am warned that without kwallet marble will save my password without encryption. what password and why does a globe need it come to mind. any idea what this means? should I install kwallet? is it already to late? what am I risking installing a globe?

In Marble's settings there is a place to enter OwnCloud server syncronization credentials. Those credentials would be stored in encrypted form by KDE's kwallet. Looks like the package "kwalletmanager" is not listed as a dependency, but should be. If you install that package the warning should go away. However, kwallet will not actually be used unless you enter some login credentials.

That said, keep in mind that VL is not a KDE oriented distro. KDE has grown to the point where we do not have the people power to maintain it, so I recommend against using kwallet to store confidential information.
