Title: LILO live standalone Floppy - is it possible???
Post by: informer16 on December 24, 2017, 10:31:07 am
Good day! I have installed VectorLinux 64 (VL64) and used liloconfig script to install LILO into a floppy.
The floppy works fine with VL64, but a huge problem for me is --> this LILO floppy is not standalone!

I wanted it to be standalone, so that - if I remove a hard drive with VL64 - this floppy would give me a command line
to specify the location of Linux kernel to boot, etc... Instead it just shows to me "L 01 01 01" screen and gets stuck there,
most likely because it still uses some files (maybe /etc/lilo.conf ?) from the VL64 partition

Please tell, how to create a truly standalone LILO floppy? Is that even possible?

Haven't really thought about it, but one thing to check is whether the lilo.conf used puts the map file on the floppy. It needs to. And it's going to have to be all chain. But then you knew that.
