Title: Inet settings not saved
Post by: w6kkt on August 06, 2007, 11:16:43 am
My ethernet-broadband setting are not being saved when puter is shutdown.  I'm using a onboard Nvidia ethernet, with external Motorola broadband modem. As root (/sbin/vasm/) i setup up my network settings using DHCP or Static.   When I do a "ifconfig" eth0 is transmitting and receiving packets with no errors.  My problem is when I shutdown the computer.  When I turn computer on I no longer have my inet.  Evidently, my inet settings are not saved.  I have looked for a "save settings" tab without success.  Ubuntu, Kubuntu. PclinuxOS, work just fine.  I have installed VL5.8 and 5.8.6 with same problem.  Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Open a console and as root use this command

netconfig

That will start a network configuration utility. See if that works.

bigpaws, tried netconfig.......same problem.  today eth0 doesn't work but eth1 does.  When I shutdown and reboot I loose my settings and need to go through inet setup again.
Thanks for your reply.
