Post by: trey on August 11, 2007, 10:49:52 pm
Just installed Audacity and wxGTK to make ringtones for our phones.
"Excellent." He proclaimed in a  smarmy mr. burns voice. ;)
However, upon reboot, there is NO sound.
Anyone, anyone????

Do you get sound in other programs? I suppose so.

The best course of action to install audacity would be with slapt-get. You might have missed one of the dependencies by doing it manually. It looks like the audacity package is missing a dependency: you must have portaudio installed.

You can also try switching from alsa to oss (or the other way arounfd) in audacity's preferences.

sorry,
audacity had just changed the master channel in my mixer. (DUH)
sometimes the answer is the simplest thing that should be slapping you in the face.
thanks a lot  for your help though.
