Title: Xmodmap and caps lock
Post by: mich on October 22, 2007, 05:05:37 am
My left shift key is broken, so i want to use my caps lock as a shift key

i changed .Xmodmap in my home folder into:

remove Lock = Caps_Lock
keysym Caps_Lock = Shift_L
add Shift = Shift_L

and in a terminal i executed:

xmodmap .Xmodmap

so far so good, but i want to make it permanently, i don't manage to do that:

in my .bashrc in my homefolder it says:

xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap

but logging in again, nothing changed.

What do i do wrong?

Thanks for help

Which window manager are you using?

Some wm have a rc file (~/.ratpoisonrc for me) that is executed when you enter session.

there I have a line with

xmodmap .xmodmaptweaks
