Title: Dumb Question - How to start SSHD?
Post by: texmansru47 on October 25, 2007, 01:22:11 pm
I hav setup the ssh.config file but when I try to start the sshd dameon I get something like the specific directory is required.  what am I doing wrong?  I have not dealt with sshd in Vector before so the commands may be a bit different from RH... I guess.

BTW - This is what I'm getting:

root:# /usr/sbin/sshd -f /etc/ssh/sshd_config start
Extra argument start.

Thanks,

Try as root on a console as root:

chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.sshd

Then /usr/sbin/sshd

The other way is to use VASM.

Nevermind - Captain Brain Fart struck again.  ran it without the "start" and we are golden.

You can also use the 'service'  tools to get it to autostart in selected runlevels.
Service in VL is similar to 'chkconfig' in other distros.
