Post by: texmansru47 on October 30, 2007, 06:53:27 am
I think I'm doing something wrong.  When i download software (extras) to add to my Vector server, and when I run installpkg program and it works... but where did it load the packages????  I have check the /usr directory but from there I'm clueless where to look.

Check in /var/log/packages.

Let me rephrase... I have ran the installpkg command and the packages are loaded in the /var/logs/packages/ but where can I start the services... better question.

In most cases, you can search the specific package file for executables being placed in 'bin' directories.

For example, to see what commands were provided by the 'pkgtools' package:

grep bin\/ /var/log/packages/pkgtools-tukaani_1.2.4-i486-1
