did a search with gslapget and did not find ksh. Is this really not available?

ksh along with any other shell are available from slackware.
you can add a slackware repo in gslapt or get it from here:
http://packages.slackware.it/search.php?v=11.0&t=1&q=ksh

I've installed zsh from slackware repos, and no problems found.

Maybe enabling an slackware repository in your slapt-getrc will do.

Correct. You can always compile it yourself and install it of course. Or put in a request to the Packaging Request forum.
