Title: 5.9 Will Not Display on Monitor
Post by: HLS on December 25, 2007, 03:08:41 pm
This was a big surprise because Vector has always installed without a hitch, but when I get to the screen that says Vector is finished installing, I get a black screen.  There is no LILO screen message indicating the bootloader has installed and Vector will not boot up on restart.  Monitor is a Samsung 740N LCD.  This is the only version of Vector that has failed to install properly.  All others have done so with even correct display settings.  All other hard drives are disabled during installation of Vector.  Vector attempted install is on a Seagate IDE 10G drive, one partition, Reiserfs, as is the usual preference, no swap, and 1.4G memory.

NVIDIA GeForce 6100 chip
AMD 4200 X 2
939 Gigabyte mainboard

Reboot, and select TUI from boot menu options. (TUI is "Text-based User Interface") Log in as root, then enter "vasm" at the prompt. Try re-detecting or reconfiguring video with VASM. The correct video driver may be available in expert section of nVidia config dialog.
