Whoa, they have a tux with a lightsaber, a red one:

We all know who use red lightsabers right?
I'm afraid I'll have to switch distro now ;).

Darkstar has been around for a while.
I remember using it before coming to VL.
it seems that they have been inactive for a couple years though

We don't even have a mascot, do we...?

No, but try topping a tux with a lightsaber. Not even a ninja-robot-pirate-zombie-tux could beat that. But at least we don't have an ugly purple prune...

You know I've seen a few people with the sig:  "Ubuntu is an African word meaning 'Slackware is too hard for me.'"  At least we don't have that stigma.

Besides ... hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good distro at your side, kid.

I challenge you with my BFG9000.

EDIT: oops, better get one with transparent bg.

All right ... I've just got a call from the committee.  They said because of the Doom reference you're back in.

Be careful, Joe. He also can use the force, and he is on the dark side.

But I wasn't the one with the Jedi goof... ;)

So? Have you ever seen a BFG9000 take out a room-full of Caco-daemons and what-nots?... ;D

D'oh!  My mistake, Joe1962.

Okay, you two fight it out with the "lightsaver" and the BFG9000, and whoever wins will be given the 2008 Dork of the Year Award.

Oh yeah? Well I killed my former bandmate with a knife and burned an old stave church down. Top that.

It's a lightsaber. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightsaber

Don't mess with me, I've got a hairdryer.

That's why he put it in quotes. M0E wrote 'lightsaver' originally.

That'll teach me to do quick and fast drive by board reading.  My bad.  But Tom should pull his head of there anyway. :D

Bats have sonic screwdrivers?

/me ups the sonic ante and turns up the volume a little more...
look at them speakers go!

Nothing is a match for the sonic screwdriver, especially in the right hands :-)

That depends. For doctors, agreed, but for the ladies, nothing can match the sonic lipstick... ;D

EDIT: and I think at least 95% of the readers are wondering WTH we're talking about by now... ;)

The sad thing is, I know exactly what each of you are talking about.

Also, Force-user would win, especially Dark Side user - they can absorb energy and redirect it.

I am officially lost, and it's usually me saying things like "The Muster of Rohan was a fun hobby-army until Hellhammer and Dead joined."

I dunno, I think a BFG9000 with a "deadlock seal" would give the sonic screwdriver a run for it's money.

Ah darn, the deadlock renders the sonic screwdriver useless. Good move, but not good enough. Evil monkeys from outer space just set fire to your desktop (mixed reference here, for dual power)

Whoever tries to absorb the energy of a BFG9000 blast would probably go supernova right about then... ;D

Anyway, I'd trade my BFG9000 for a Tardis and go pursue some more peaceful endeavors if the lightsaber wielder would switch to the light side of the force... ;)

EDIT: but just in case they really push me, I always carry my experimental "planet buster" BFG10K in the backpack... :o

# Warning: Just came back from die Kneipe ;-)

Sonic screwdriver. The real beauty is the perception of the sonic device. It's as big as a pen. It makes a sound, and although the full set of features is never listed, it opens or closes all locks: mechanic or electronic. Only not deadbolt locks. But it does seem to be able to fix, mend or sabotage a fair selection of different appliances; both of what we have today and in the future. And to top all that, it can also serve as a weapon.

The Doctor usually is accompanied by a contemporary human. Who is of course as impressed with the device as the viewers at home are. This device is impressive bordering the absurd. "What _can't_ it do??" we wonder.

And then, just as you've settled for the concept of a device sooooo darn powerful, an alien brings you back to reality when they say with utter disdain: "It's _just_ a screwdriver"

Ah, I may be a bit of a sucker, but I love the contrast therein.

Still, between a lightsaber and a sonic screwdriver, I'd choose the screwdriver and good running shoes any day of the week.

EDIT: [GOD_MODE]Any and all doom weapons with maximum ammo and perfect health, I still take the shotgun.[/GOD_MODE]

Maybe a collection of Force-users, set up around a Massassai temple to focus the energy centrally ... yeah, that might work.

Also, BFG10K is a rapid-fire, localised plasma-stream - an overpowered plasma rifle basically.
