Title: VL5.9-Light Beta 1 is Released
Post by: uelsk8s on February 11, 2008, 08:24:47 pm
VectorLinux announces the newest member of the VL5.9 family: VL-Light.
VL-Light turns an aging PC into a usable computer again. Living up to the VL motto of "When Choice Matters," we give you lots of choices in a small package. We have included JWM and Fluxbox Window Managers, xfe and pcmanfm File managers, Opera, Dillo and lynx Web Browsers, Xine, MPlayer, and XMMS for Multimedia and Abiword and Gnumeric for office tasks. After a well-fought Alpha phase, VL-Light has reached its beta testing phase, where we would like the public to jump in and help find all remaining bugs.

A Special thanks goes out to Nightflier for stepping up and putting a lot of work into this release.

334mb ISO can be downloaded here: http://vectorlinux.osuosl.org/veclinux-5.9/iso-release/VL5.9-Light-B1.iso

Please post bugs here: http://www.vectorlinux.com/forum2/index.php?topic=5568.0

Thanks,
Uelsk8s

Awesome!  I had been starting to worry that VL was getting focussed on a more fancy style, with all the work done on SOHO.  It's good to see that all the general development being done will be useable on my old computers!
