Title: Hello
Post by: MrNoj on June 12, 2008, 03:15:54 pm

I'm pretty much completely new to vector, I know a bit about Linux... pretty much exactly enough to get me into trouble. I've installed VL Lite onto an old machine at my work for my coworkers to use as a source for internets when I'm busy on the other computer in the office so that they'll leave me alone. Well after I got it up and running I started playing around with it and I'm quite happy with it. I forgot how much fun messing around with the guts of an OS can be. I've run into a couple of problems so far, but I've been able to solve most of them without bugging anyone on the boards (there have been a lot of threads on most of the issues I've had, search is my friend).

Anyways, it's nice to see a tight knit community like this, I hope that I will be a welcome addition.

Welcome!  Vector Linux Light is still beta code so a few problems are to be expected.  In my experience -- and I've been around since VL 1.8 -- the developers get most of the bugs worked out before the final release.  Be sure to go to the Vector Linux Light bug thread in the Distro Development section of the forum and report the problems you've found if nobody else has yet.  The developers can't fix what they don't know about, can they :)

Again, welcome!  The VL community is as friendly and helpful as any you'll find.

I really like the light distro, it runs like a champ on the K6 I put it on. I'll check out the bug thread and see if there's more info there about some of the minor issues I've noticed. Thanks.
