No GUI?  :)
Interesting.

I wonder how you do audio editing without a GUI...

I never played with sox, but it seems a nice app (though not suitable for many audio editing tasks IMHO)

nice... one keeps on learning!  ;)
Gimme my audacity, though. (It sucks that I cannot make the one in the repo work... maybe at some point).

Huh!  Didn't realize it had a GUI.  I only built it since it was a dep for a package I was going to build and changed my mind.  I was about to delete a filthy chroot and found it there so I shared.

I'll see about getting a desktop for it and dong another build.

"man ecasound" gives an idea.

There are multiple frontends for ecasound. Ecaenvelopter is just meant to make envelopes. it can't do any of the other many functions that ecasound has. Some things that may come closer are tkeca ( http://tkeca.sourceforge.net/ ) and visecas ( http://visecas.sourceforge.net/ ). I have not tried them though.

Audacity and ecasound have very different design philosophies and uses. Obviously, you're not going to use ecasound for something that you can do with 2 clicks in Audacity. But Audacity is purely an audio file editor (and a good one too), whereas ecasound can be used for routing streams, live effect processing and more.

I see.... sounds good (no pun intended). :)
I friend of mine is into music with Linux; I'll ask him about it.
