Title: VL on Atom-based Mini-ITX boards
Post by: jasse on January 25, 2009, 01:57:48 pm
Has anyone installed VL on any of the newer Mini-ITX boards with Atom processor ???

I also noticed that Intel has released (it's news to me anyway) a dualcore version of the Atom processor.
Can Linux use that extra processing power efficiently or is it better to spend the extra money elswere ?

yes, multi-core processor functions are enabled in all the latest Linux kernels.

I've got an Atom-based netbook on the way this week.  I'll gladly let you know how it works for me.

We have a number of users who have netbooks with the Atom processors who have reported good results here in the forum so I can't imagine that a Mini-ITX motherboard with the same processor would be a problem.
