I installed a newer version of libgpod which is used by gtkpod, the linux ipod application

Before I had no problem but now when I try to mount the ipod as a device I get the following error:

Quote
The name org.freedesktop.Hal was not provided by any .service files

In the changelog I see some recent changes to how HAL recognizes the device

   extended ipod information

I searched the web and found this information that suggests it is a permission problem

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HAL#Permissions_policies

However, this website doesn't mention anything about .service

Can anyone point me in the direction to fix this?  I'm afraid of messing up my HAL config
just to use one updated library.
