How do I install these ? I have a VL6 light installed. mounted the iso having the guest additions but when I try to run it - it asks for  gcc & make which I do not have. where do I get gcc and make for vl6 light ? is there a pet pkg for vbox guest addition ?

I have always been able to install thos straight from the iso. Did you choose not to install the dev package during the vl installation?

I didn't know it needed gcc. You can install that from gslapt though

nope, did not install the dev pkgs. was able to install the slackware gcc, make. it now complain about headers. no equivalent of build-essential pkg's in VL I guess. how do I add just the dev pkgs to an existing vl light install ? fire up the installer ?

Yes. You need the kernel source to install that.
