In VL Light 5.9, the default desktop was JWM. LXDE was included as an option.

When LXDE became an option in VL 6.0 Standard, it made little sense to me to include it in Light as well.

You can add launchers to the IceWM panel, but it is all done by manually editing text files. No doubt LXDE is easier to customize.

The best way to get an LXDE machine is to use Standard, and de-select XFCE during the installation.
