Today morning I try to open my VL 6 and notice some of my xx.desktop file in my desktop is not working. When I double click it, it open in a text editor instead of launch the actual application. It seem the same thing happen to all the xxx.desktop file in /usr/share/applications too. I try to log as root and the same thing happen. Any idea anyone?

Try this, as root...
# update-mime-database /usr/share/mime

It worked for me in a similar situation.

This has happened to me several times after installing VL6 and then upgrading or installing a bunch of stuff. I did a bit of research, but this fact makes it hard to track down which package actually causes the issue.

Never mind then. As long as I know how to solve it then should be ok. Tongue
