Force a File or a Web Page to Open with an Application of My Choosing

I would like to create a shortcut on my Desktop which will open the Google website with Chrome and not with the default browser.

From memory I think the shortcut properties should be:

http://www.google.com "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe"

But for some reason, it does not work. Maybe I got the syntax wrong.

Your post sound like you actually have Chrome running on your VL box.

If so...
Are you running Chrome in wine or crossover? 

And if you are running Crome in Wine, then cool...how'd you do that?

The desktop shortcut info will change slightly based on your info.

Otherwise Chrome as an .exe file is a windows program and is just not going to run.

This will only work if the app is designed to take arguments.
Some good examples of where this would work would be links or elinks. In these browsers, you would call the program, and then feed it an argument in this case an URL, and they'll go straight there.

I'm not sure about chrome.
I'm sure your syntax is wrong though
If anything, you would have to launch the app first and the argument (URL) later.
