well, it's official, i've started vectoring~
i successfully installed the full version and am currently typing from it~
it's so cool, it knew what drivers it needed for almost everything, and i didn't have much trouble with the X configuration~
so i'm happy now =]

it's different, but i feel comfy with it~
just a few differences in the I/O from Windows OS's, but it's not bad~

Welcome to vl. And just curious... What is with the "~" in your posts? I'm beginning to wonder if you got or need a differenty keyboard layout, or if they're intentional (no problem if they are) ... Just curious.

Can you boot into text mode (linux-tui)? Tell us more about what "X died" means and someone can probably get you going again. --GrannyGeek

when i say "X died" i mean it gives me an error regarding X, then it stops booting, so i can't use any tools to try to fix it... and there isn't a linux-tui boot...

press ctrl-alt-F2 at the same time and you will get a text terminal to debug from. often times you just need one clean shutdown to get it back in order. happens to me occasionally when my battery dies. for some reason the primary console with the pretty graphics doesn't always get to a login prompt. but one of the secondary consoles will still work.
once logged in as root, try just typing:
# reboot
