Hi. Partly in an effort to save system resources, I've downloaded and installed a window manager which originally dates from 1992 - vtwm, which is a slight expansion of the legendary twm. It looks pretty spartan and retro but it does the job and offers all the features I really need (especially the ability to move, resize, raise and lower windows etc.)

Is there anyone else here who still uses an early window manager such as this one, or is everyone these days using the likes of KDE, Gnome, XFCE etc.?

I use twm every now and again over a NX or VNC session.

Thanks for replying. I couldn't find twm either in Vector 6.0 itself or as a download, which is one reason I turned to vtwm (though it does have slightly more features).

Thanks again. I've downloaded it (twm) and may well give it a try later on.

Of the two I'll probably stick with vtwm though, being an evolutionary development of twm it has more features and it also uses very little extra memory.
