A while back I decided to set up remote access to the office. A machine discarded by Windows users was pressed into service as an SSH server. It performed perfectly and kinda just faded out of sight, out of mind. When it got time to expand it's role I decided to replace it with something more capable. Before shutting it down I decided to check the time stamps from the installation, and was surprised to find that it had been serving for over two and a half years without any kind of maintenance or problems whatsoever. Way to go, open source!
Not bad for an old 200 MHz Pentium in today's world.
