Audio & Video editors ?
« on: September 07, 2009, 06:38:54 am »

Are there any decent audio and video editors out there? Besides audacity and ardour (which I can't get working) I don't find much like say cooledit or adobe audition that I like.

I heard before about cinerella, I will try and get it working on vector, but again I don't see much on video editing around thats good.

Any suggestions for things to check out would be appreciated.

You could try kdenlive.  I read a decent review of it in Linux Format a few months back.  Same article mentioned how cinelerra had a number of stability issues.

Audacity is really worth getting to work. Ardour is more meant for multitrack recording and producing music, I don't think it's very suitable to edit (for instance) a wavefile. I haven't tried it for a while, but last time I did I found it very hard to do.. well anything in it.

Oh, by the way, it's cinelerra, not cinerella ;-).

On vl 5.9, the multimedia bonus disc was the perfect solution for trying out everything multimedia related. Unfortunately it might take some time before something similar becomese available for vl6.

Looks like cinelerra was forked by the authors in favor of Lumiera: http://lumiera.org/
There is nothing usable yet, but looks promising.

Cinelerra is the most like Final Cut Pro. But you can also try PiTiVi which I think just released a new version. Its more like Windows Movie Maker though.
