Firstly, I love the way this operating system looks and feels. It also seems very fast, simple and easy to use. Thank you very much to all who must have put so much work into it. Everything seems to work just fine so far, but I'm having a problem getting the youtube videos to play. When I first installed the Vector Linux, they played no problem. Now they don't and say I have to download the latest version of flash player. I can't figure it out. Can anyone help me please?

Follow this screencast, should make upgrading your flash pretty straightforward.

were you first a hippy that regressed to a redneck or a redneck that progressed to hippy stature? It's philosophically impossible to be both, I'm told.

Hi hippyredneck!

Welcome to Vector!

Maybe you are a hippy with a red neck?

I wasn't really prepared for the question.
If I had to pick one, I'd say I have progressed to hippy stature.
Sounds better at least.
I like to think I possess the best characteristics of both types.
I have short hair if that helps.
I don't drive a truck.
Honestly, I'm much more a hippy than a redneck.
I really enjoy the computer, the internet and this operating system.
I look forward to getting to know some of you.

I had my first computer given to me in the beginning of 2007 by FACAH  in Victoria.  It had Vector Linux already installed on it.  I used it for less than a year and never really figured anything out with it other than how to use the Internet. Then something went wrong with the harddrive I think when we had a power outtage. I got a different computer and put windows xp pro on it. I played with xp for about a year and a half and got to know it quite well. Of course it's very user friendly, but was rather time consuming with all the updates and viruses, malware, trojans etc. and constantly defragmenting, cleaning up the disk, using ccleaner and so on. I tried ubuntu, but found it was slowing down too much. I looked around at different linux distributions and noticed Vector Linux and read about how fast it is and how it's ready to be used for playing movies and such. I downloaded the iso and so here I am now. I honestly don't know a whole lot about computers yet, but really like linux and am eager to learn more about it and how to use it. There seems to be so many more options available with it and best of all, it's free.  Smiley Having said that, I think I might buy the gold edition some time to see if it's any faster and/or better and out of my appreciation for the time-saving help you have given me here. Thank you.  Grin
