Compare the task bar on these two photos http://comp-resources.berkeley.edu/msvista/images/800px-Windows_Vista_Desktop.png http://news.softpedia.com/images/news2/Available-Now-VectorLinux-6-0-Light-2.jpg . The show desktop and windows list menu buttons are similar don't you think? What else are they hiding?

Never heard of Nazi linux, I know VL pretty well after four years and haven't detected a political/social agenda in it's targeted user or it's icon themes, and I am very sure the the people at MS are not part of the National Socialist Party. This is just someone trying to get a rise out others.

I don't see any resemblance of VL with Windows at all.......

There are more similarities.

When you click on the logo in the lower left corner, it brings up a menu of available programs. If you launch one, it will cause an entry to appear on the taskbar with an image and text indicating what it is. Furthermore, in the selection of software, there are programs with amazingly similar purposes, like accessing the Internet, sending mail, exploring the files on the hard drive and more.

I bet if we dig deep enough, we will probably find that both operating systems were designed to do pretty much the same work.

And the coup de grâce, of course, is the background image. It is from Norway, and in the "Drittes Reich" the Scandinavians were the models of the "Aryan race".

Now, the bidding is open on my beautiful tract of beachfront property in Arizona. Going once..

Looks to me like the original poster is somewhere in the start of puberty, and has no notion whatsoever about the second world war, what nazism is, and has a poor sense of humour.

I thought about locking this thread or removing it, but I think a warning is better:

If you don't have anything better to do than pollute these forums with these ridiculous accusations, stay away or be banned. If you have linux related questions you are of course welcome.

I think we should create a thread "How NOT to be good at the forum" and post some links there, and this thread should go first.

Wrong, wrong wrong and wroooonge! 0/4 statements were correct.

My question is why a Linux distribution would want to have the Windows logo in it. It makes no sense.

Look at the buttons next to the start button. If you have high enough resolution I think that you almost can see the Windows logo in Vector Linux. And that is sick.

I do not see the "Windows Logo" anywhere on the VectorLinux 6 Light desktop. This is an exaggerated statement.

I do see that the 'Show Desktop' and 'Switch between windows' buttons do look very similar.  However, upon a close inspection I see that the 'show desktop' buttons are actually different - easily identifiable by the missing Windows logo (i.e. four colors). The 'switch between windows' buttons are close enough to call the same. See attached image for a comparison.

All in all, the only desktop similarities between VectorLinux 6 Light and Windows Vista is the 'switch between windows' button.  That's that, and is really aside the real point of your post.

Your intentions were not to come here and simply bring this fact to light (no pun intended) - they were somewhere else.  You make a derogatory subject title insinuating _something_, and then throw in an open-ended (FUD) question about what else it hidden. What EXACTLY is your purpose in starting this post? Go ahead and let us all know what's on your mind (i.e. where the 'nazi' and 'what else is hidden' statements come from). Don't be afraid, we're listening.

Guys, relax. I wanted to give the OP the benefit of the doubt and assume that, although in bad taste, it was meant to be funny. By now it appears to be intended to stir the pot and get people worked up. Don't take the bait.

FWIW, I'm the one who chose the Icegil Grey theme. I picked it because I liked it. It was not until later that I realized it is obviously inspired by Vista, and even then I didn't mind the similarities. It looks good. I did not examine it under magnification to compare icons. I don't put Microsoft in the same category as a political party from the past. There is no hiddent agenda. Simple as that.

Hopefully this settles any questions about VL Light. Now take your flamebait elsewhere.

Well IBM has a lot of involvement in Linux on mainframes and whatnot so Linux is really only separated from the Third Reich by one degree

I suspect Herr Torvalds of vor crimes
