ndiswrapper driver option in wicd

I have a usb wireless network device that I want to use. It has been confirmed that it definitely does not normally work in linux but it does work if you use the windows driver in ndiswrapper. I installed the driver into ndiswrapper but I still can't make the device work. ndiswrapper confirms that the device is present and that the driver for it is installed but it doesn't work. Then I noticed the ndiswrapper supplementary driver option (or something like that) in wicd. I tried that too but it didn't work. Can somebody explain how to make that ndiswrapper thing in wicd work?

Ndiswrapper is a program to use windows driver  for
wireless cards that have no linux modules available.

PLease not that there are some suggestions for troubleshooting at ndiswrapper site.

Wicd is a tool to setup wirless networks after the hardware is setup, not to configure
ndiswrapper directly.
