Drum roll please..............
The VectorLinux development crew, after many months of sweat and tears, is proud to bring the community the first testing release of VL-6.0-SOHO. As with all our SOHO releases this is based on the KDE desktop system. This release fully embraces the latest KDE-4.3.2 with many graphical and system enhancements. This also has been the testbed for our gui installer which was introduced with our standard 6.0 release. Over the last few months we have perfected the installer and tweaked kde4 to the point that it is VL worthy and ready for a road test. We are not going to bore you with all the technical specs but be assured all is more than up to date. What we want more than anything is testing and more testing. Then we want ideas, comments and help to make it better....to make it awesome so that all can experience VectorLinux as it should be. Just a couple of notes this requires a two CD install although the first CD is enough to get you running. The second CD will add all the fun stuff like games, kernel source, special drivers and OpenOffice. We hope you all will take the time to test this and make it the best it can be. Vector is only as good as it's community and the community is awesome, thats why we work so hard.

This is not based on Slackware 13 is it? How far apart is "up to date" and Slack13? Just curious, thanks!

Sorry for such a late reply Dweeberkitty. I don't think this is based on the 13. But, it is nearly as up to date in many areas. We had to bring things "up" in order of KDE 4.

I can't give out the other differences off from the top of my head other than the Xorg. ALL I can say without those details is that the SOHO is pretty close. Far more up than the STD. Even the installer in this SOHO has been expanded with many extra features and more flexibility and so on.

We have also began the core of VL-7, which will not be based on SLackware either. The team has been working on developing it's own core, which is intended to be in VL-7. Still too early at this point to be certain, but that was the idea. Of course it will still be Slack compatible.

Hope this helps at least a little.

The installer is looking to svn to see if theres a newer version. Thats why the delay if you wait for a short while it should show up depending on the speed of your internet connection.
