This one is for those who want KDE 3.5.10 on the VL6.0 platform.

KDE 3 needs no introduction. It is a mature and solid product with a large user base.

This release includes the expected KDE tools as well as the Koffice suite. Multimedia capabilities have been enhanced with the inclusion of VLC Media Player, Xine and the Mplayer application and plugin. For Internet usage, Firefox is included, with Java and Flash pre-installed. The Pidgin multi-protocol Instant Messenger is an optional install. Web cameras are supported. Wireless networking is easily configured using Wicd. Dial-up is handled by the Chestnut dialer. The KDE game collection provides entertainment for the young and the young at heart.

An installed system is easily managed and extended using the VASM Control Center and the Gslapt Package Manager.

Changelog from B3:
Applied vector's fix for USB devices.
Changed kdmrc as suggested by Masta.
Fixed missing menu icons.
Added xarchiver
Added wrapper script tlz-opener and corresponding file association for tlz packages.

So, I have downloaded it and would like to give it a test.

What do I do to install it?  I have three partitions, swap, hda2 (root) and hda3 (home).  Perhaps I am too green to try.

@Sledgehammer, you would have to shrink your home partition enough to make room for the install. Depending on the filesystem you chose, you may not be able to shrink the partition with out losing the data that is on it, so I wouldn't recommend.

If you have a desktop and a spare hard-drive hanging around you could add that as a second (slave) harddrive and use that drive for your experimental stuff.

You would need at least 5GB of free space. Swap partition can be shared between installs.

Re-sizing partitions can be tricky, and some file systems won't let you shrink them.
If you could add space somehow, that would greatly reduce your risk.

Also, the final version is out.

Thanks guys.

Sounds like more that I want to take on right now, particularly as my system has been working so well lately.
