The VectorLinux development crew is proud to bring the community the first beta release of VL-6.0-SOHO. This release is based on the latest KDE-4.3.3 with many graphical and system enhancements. We have included all the productivity software one would need like OpenOffice, koffice, the gimp, k3b, scribus, and inkscape to name a few.The kernel is version which adds new wireless network possibilities along with greater speed and stability. The GUI installer first introduced in the VL standard 6.0 release has been fine tuned for better functionality. New features have been added including support for both lilo and grub2 bootloaders.

We have included out of the box multimedia support so that all of the popular formats play without the need for searching for third party downloads to play a certain format. We also have the latest amarok 2.2 for your music appreciation.

The beta release has been heavily tested internally so we hope the transition cycle from beta to RC will be a short one. Please note this is now a two cd (iso) install. Installing the first CD will give a workable system, installing the second CD will provide all the bells and whistles. Please post any bugs and constructive comments to the forum section below:

The two install iso's are here:

We should probably get our registered testers to report bugs at the official bugtracker here:

If you have not yet registered for an account, please do so Wink

I registered at VLCore but I have no idea how to use it. I've never comprehended wikis very well, and this is more confusing than others I've encountered.

Are we supposed to comment on any of the bugs reported? If so, how do we do it?

Ticket #18 described the exact same problem I had today when I tried unsuccessfully to install SOHO beta. Is there a place to say "me, too"? Or if a bug is reported once, do we figure we don't need to say "me, too"?
