No its not the front switch. I wish.  First thing tried. its a common problem with the presario laptops.  There are allot of posts on the wireless not working and the only fix is replacing the motherboard.  this was a free laptop and way out of warranty. I went to a few sights and got a list of usb wireless that say the driver in kernal.  there are a couple that say you need to down load firmware but they are all at my local micro center so its easy to return. 

The wg111 v2 says on the site that it needs drivers downloaded, v1 needs fermwear, and v3 need nothing. This is why I asked. i can never find a site that lists vector or slack compatibility. its always the mainline ones. It might be a good idea to start a section where people can put down all the things that work and don't to make the vectoring life easier.

Thats what I'm telling you - I'm using a wg111 v2 on Vector 6.0 Light right now.
