A thought for future VL releases...
« on: December 17, 2009, 06:06:52 am »
I had a thought. Right now, to install vl, you have to burn the iso to a cd (or use one of a couple other methods), boot from the cd and run the installer. What if you could also have an executable file in the iso that you could run from the desktop to start the install? You would burn the iso to a disk (or otherwise decompress it) and then either boot from the disk or run the executable file to start the installer. I thought of this after noticing that this is a feature of Windows and Xandros. (there are probably more distros that have this feature but I haven't come across them)
The following sentence is true. The previous sentence is false.

VL 6.0 SOHO KDE-Classic on 2.3 Ghz Dual-core AMD with 3 Gigs of RAM

I like that idea.  I have tried installing from an HD which worked fine except the installer would not do anything with the partition it was reading from.  I had to add it to fstab after installation was completed.

you can run the installer now, as always, from a running linux install.
it seems the only things we are missing is a desktop link and maybe an easy to install installer pkg :)
