I think kernel support has improved for broadcom chips.
You might try installing new kernel and kernel modules.
installpkg ftp://ftp-osl.osuosl.org/pub/vectorlinux/veclinux-6.0/kernels/kernel-modules-2.6.31.6-i686-1vl60.tlz
installpkg ftp://ftp-osl.osuosl.org/pub/vectorlinux/veclinux-6.0/kernels/kernel-2.6.31.6-i686-1vl60.tlz
Run that in a terminal as root.
Most likely, you're using lilo for bootloader, so you'll need to execute
vliloconf
as root and just follow the prompts.
Reboot after that and choode your new new kernel at boot time. See if that gives you wireless.
