Hello there:

I have this very old laptop, it has a broken screen so I had to use an external monitor.
I couldn't use Ubuntu 9.10 and 8.04, because it was impossible to setup the external monitor.
But the installation of Vetor Linux was very easy and everything works out of the box.
I'm very happy, great distro.

I'd have to say I agree.  I just got 6,0 standard installed on my inspiron and it seems to be doing ok for such an old goat.  Brought life back into it.
