Thanks for the advice man, I got it to work and boot into VL-Standard.
I had to do a re-install (done about 5 so far) just selected the vesa config and it worked.
Now comes the hard part......getting my wireless PCMCIA card to work.
So far it aint working and then the system boot froze on loading fonts...........so I'm up to about re-install 7 now.
It's kind of a learning experience...........I'm hoping to get everying going well by reinstall number 10.

I am very impressed with the speed and the professional appearance of VL6. It is much better than Puppy and Xubuntu IMHO.
