Hello all.
« on: January 13, 2010, 01:21:18 am »
Well I have to say I'm back, and even with a few issues to sort out. I'm a happy guy. A bit of back story here: Started out with computers when I was 11, and hated Wincrap from the 3.1 days on, from there I played with Commodores, Amigas, Macs ( still have a few in the house for the wife.. Makes life easier). But I digress. Found Vector about 2 years ago when my main work horses were a P4 2.4 and a Thinkpad T20. Ran like a dream, did everything I wanted and needed and quickly, such a plus.. Made me for the the years in 1998 when I was mucking out drivers, serial numbers and what not to get slack to compile correctly for my 486dx/120.

So as I said, I'm back and starting to remember the fun, though the hardware is a bit different now.. I've installed successfully on my Acer box here dual core AMD 2.4ghz, 3gbs of ram and what not.. Everything seems fine for not.. Uber fast and nice, however, screen res on the lcd is not what I what not, way too low, so I'll either muck that out, of ask for help once I've looked through the forums a bit more for up to date nvidia drivers, have the mouse wheel issue, but can't complain much there as both keyboard and mouse are wireless via usb and were detected on first boot of the 6.0 install disk..

Nice work gents, I hope I can help where ever possible. I've run every distro under the sun and then some. Got comfy with Mint on the new hardware, but even there bloat is starting to show through. Sad the way some of the distro's are going..

~ Cheers all,

Welcome DrakkenWar,

It's a great feeling when you find that you can resurrect old computers using free software. Post separate threads in the appropriate sections of the forum for your problems.
