I installed Linux Light 6.0 and have a weird screen problem that I can't find in this forum. A wide black bar on the left taking up almost half the screen. On top and to the right the screen curves strongly. I tried everything, changed xorg.conf several times, by editing the file and using VASM. Nothing seems to work. Does anybody have a clue where to look for the solution?

Do you have the same problem when you use VL-light Live.  If not, may copy the xorg.conf file to a thumbdrive when your running off the live cd. Then use that to replace the xorg.conf that is not working.

CRT screen?
What different options did you try in xorg.conf?

This is ridiculous. I installed it to talk a pc-idiot friend through installing it on her ancient pc step by step. Now she has trails of pixels on her screen and can barely see the bottom bar. Video card settings are definitely a big downside to Linux. I'm a little stressed for time right now to give long answers but I'll try the suggestions.
