Hi, requesting an updated version of libtool from 1.5.24 to 2.2.6b.
Thanks.

Not a good idea for VL6.0. It would require rebuilding a huge range of other packages.

Its also a pig to build properly - tried it once before and gave up.

Smiley Tell you what. I'll have another go at building it, and you can try it (if I get it to build this time). Just be aware that you may end up with problems in a lot of other packages.

Zenwalk has just gone through this - I've had to rebuild 4 of my packages, and a number of other people have had more than that.

I'll let you know when its available - won't put it into the repo for the moment at least.....

Right. Done. Find it here (not going into the repo for the moment - you get to be the guinea pig first Smiley ):

http://www.users.waitrose.com/~paulm/vector/libtool/2.2.6b/libtool-2.2.6b-i586-1vl60.tlz

Make sure you have a copy of the original version before you install it. It can be found here:

http://vectorlinux.osuosl.org/veclinux-6.0/packages/dev/libtool-1.5.24-i486-1.tlz

Let me know how you get on with it. If it doesn't break things, I'll put it through the repo.

Thank you so much for your hard work and help on this. Given the caveat, I'm a bit nervous to try it.
Also there has arisen some new questions as to the procedure and modifications needed for getting event sounds working in xfce. It can be done, as Mandriva one 2010 xfce proves. That is my goal.

@flip city
Why not give it a run in a virtual machine first, like Virtualbox?

Have never used or needed to use virtual, so, as the saying goes, learn something new everyday !

Smiley I can't image why.....

I installed it, and so far, I've had no problems arising from it. Not sure why that should be, given the Zenwalk experience, but it doesn't seem to have caused problems so far.

Interesting. I've seen the option in the Zenwalk build of Xfce, but it doesn't do anything for me there at least. Not tried Madrivia in a long time. Good luck.
