The last release dates back to 2002-08-06. I am no expert, but I don't think it will even work with the recent kernel.

I'm not concerned with dates, but results, thanks. Well, you should be. If the last release date is that old, it is a clear indication that development has stopped. And given the speed of general development in Linux, a good indication that it is unlikely to work. Even if it does work, with development so obviously stopped, the chances of any bugs being fixed are nil, making it not worth the effort to package. Have you tried it? No, and I have many other, much more worthwhile things to try. Paul. |

prince, have a play with the texas flood boot scripts and see if this work for you. I'd be interested to hear how they compare with serel.

That's over a minute of shaved time which is very significant, good work prince! I am and will be interested in your final finding what all is said and done. I assume #1 is unaltered install, #2 is some kind of modified boot sequence, and #3 is another modified boot sequence? Anyway, I'd be interested in how you've accomplished this. Keep up the good work!

hummmmm..... 0:43 seconds. My out of the box VL 6.0 light boots in 0:38 seconds from lilo to login.

I actually cheated without a cheatsheet, Daniel. I'm more familiar with the hardware. Leery about bricking my USB ports with Texas Flood Scripts, I took 2 Raptor hard drives and created a swap on each drive. I'm sure when I get another test machine up and running, I'll give the flood scripts, your link, and Serel a shot. Probably finding ways to create a link to initialize USB after a super-fast flood script boot is my next quest. So there you have it, 2 swaps is better than one.  By the way, thanks, to all above. |
