http://cinelerra.org/getting_cinelerra.php#slack

Can someone please walk me through how to build a slackware package for vectorlinux?

I heard mention of this before. slackbuild or something like that?

I desperately need cinelerra or kdenlive or some other really
good video editing package for my vector box.

Any help or advice would be greatly greatly appreciated. I got a change to use cinelerra on ubuntu and its exactly what I need.
ALOT of what I do now is video editing and I REALLY do not want to switch to ubuntu just to get better video editing programs.

Thanks!

BTW, please see my other thread... If you can package kdenlive or cinelerra for gslapt installation...

I will donate 50$ US to vectorlinux in your name by paypal. Yes either, or 100$ if you can do both...

Thanks!

Perhaps this will help: http://repository.slacky.eu/slackware-12.1/multimedia/cinelerra/20080527/
Or this: http://repository.slacky.eu/slackware-12.2/multimedia/cinelerra/20081227/
Or this: http://repository.slacky.eu/slackware-13.0/multimedia/cinelerra/20091114/

The kdenlive packages are also available there. Just pick your slackware version (perhaps the one that corresponds to the Vector version you may be partial to) under the multimedia/kdenlive/ (see above links).

Might also want to check out this thread: http://fixunix.com/slackware/531325-cinelerra-4-slackware-12-0-a.html.

As for building a package all the tools are present in Vector. The simplest way for me is to use sbbuilder to create the .slackbuild and then edit that script as needed. The above repository will have .slackbuild scripts available too.

Mike

Ready-made slackware packages can usually be installed as-is if they're for the version of slack that corresponds (or is close) to your VL version. Example: VL 6 corresponds to slackware 12.1; 12.0, 12.2, and 13.0 packages often work for it.

On the other hand, packaging's not a bad thing to know. Take a look at http://www.opensourcebistro.com/Tutorial/VL60/VLpackaging/page

http://www.opensourcebistro.com/Tutorial/VL60/Install_apps/page covers various other ways to get software onto your system, including using slack packages.

I just tried loading cinelerra from the three links above. There are several missing symlinks and if you use the slack v12.2 or v13.0 some of the library version in VL6 are not the more recent ones used in those packagings of cinelerra.

With the 12.1 version the libraries were okay but you will need to get the ilmbase package (http://repository.slacky.eu/slackware-12.1/libraries/ilmbase/1.0.1/ilmbase-1.0.1-i486-2sl.tgz) and create a symlink named "libIlmImf.so.6" for the libIlmThread.so.6.0.0 library.

After doing these steps I was able to load cinelerra on my SOHO beta 4.4.1 machine.
