Regarding your tutorials on opensourcebistro... What program are you  using to capture everything? I've been toying with the idea of creating a tutorial for vBulletin, but would like to do so using VL. Suspect it won't tax this poor ol' notebook as much as it would by using video capture tools under Windows 7.

You can try http://www.screentoaster.com/ , an online screen recorder. 

It requires java, but you shouldn't have any problem in VL.

I did start with Wink.  Then I moved to creating voice overs by playing the wink video and capturing it again with Voice included with XVidCap Screen Capture.  Wink works well but it is labor intensive.  With the latest tutorials, I've been using GTK-Recordmydesktop to capture the video.  Then using audacity to record the voice over. Then using Openshot video editor to put the two of them together.  Compiz's magnifier function makes things more visible and Openshot's video trickery to add pop in tip windows.

The advantage of wink though is that the file size of videos made with it are smaller right?

Yes.  Much, much smaller.  A 5 minute tut in Wink is around 2mb to 3mb.  A 5 minute tut after compression with openshot video editor is around 90mb to 100mb. 

Unfortunately Wink tutorials can not be submitted to YouTube as is, so I was ending up recapturing the tut with Xvidcap, putting me right back to a bigger file size.

Uploading to YouTube and letting their compression software do its thing will take one of openshots video's and shrink it again.  For example the ssh tut was 160mb when I uploaded it, when I download it from YouTube after it runs through their compression software it is only 40.9mb.
