Hello all,

I am a Window user so far. I want to try using Vector Linux but I know very little about Vector. I have a lot of questions, and this is the first one: How can I use PHP, Web Programming Language on this Vector Linux?

Help!

Assuming php is not on your system, install php as follows:

applications>system>gslapt

once in gslapt install php.

There are several development tools available. Am I correct in thinking that you want to write php code in an editor, and preview/test it using a local web server on your computer?

Thank for reply,

Just information, my computer has broken down with the screen, I cannot display anything -  repairing now - have not practiced more yet.

Yes, I want to write and test php code using a local web server on my computer.

There are several text editors to choose from. In KDE there is Kwrite and Kate. For the Gnome environment you have Gedit. Bluefish is also a good choice.

For the other end, "httpd" (Apache web server) is available from the repo.
